When reviewing my Windows XP client eventlogs I encountered the following two error messages:
The client did not receive any Security Updates since those eventsstarted. For whatever reason the SoftwareDistribution database used by “Automatic Updates” service become corrupted. To fix this problem:
- Go to Services.msc and stop “Automatic Updates” service
- Go to C:\Windows and rename/delete folder C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\
- Start “Automatic Updates” service
Immediately after “Automatic Updates” service was started my client download the patches from the WSUS server.
Marti
at last point you mean start “automatic updates” service, right? 🙂
