Microsoft MCSA 2003: Passing exam 70-292

Yesterday I passed Microsoft exam 70-292. I completed the MCSA 2000 requirements sometime in 2004 and passed my final MCSE exam in 2005.

It had been three years since my last Microsoft exam. To upgrade my MCSA/MCSE 2000 certifications, I need to pass 70-292 and 70-296 before 31 March 2008. Both upgrade exams retire after 31 March. I have now passed the first one.

Microsoft has put a lot of effort into updating the exams and has moved to one provider, Thomson Prometric Test Center. I had trouble with the new testing tool: a couple of times, I waited minutes for the next question to appear. Be prepared!

70-292 was tough, even for a system administrator with years of experience. SUS 1.0 has been discontinued for a while, but there were still questions about it.

I prepared with one eBook, MCSE Core Required Exams in a Nutshell from O'Reilly Media, and the Netfresco 70-292 study notes.
