Beginning of December I successfully passed for the Azure AZ-900 exam and I had another Virtual Training Day booked for “Microsoft Power Platform Fundamentals” on 17th of December. I followed that training session and wanted to give it a try having a second fundamentals certificate for Power Platform. My skillset has been mainly IT-Infrastructure and by learning the basics from Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI and more I would able to also the automate processes and build simple applications/workflows.
Implementing Power BI Gateway and establishing the connection to a SAP BW environment I gained good experience working with Power BI. On top I setup data sources to SQL server and created several dashboards from TOPdesk service management and SolarWinds data. Worked with Microsoft support to resolve SSO with Power BI Data gateway and learned a lot around Kerberos configuration.
During the holiday session I used couple of days and beginning of the year to prepare. Spend several evenings and my free time to go through official material, created flows, canvas and model driven apps. I booked my exam on 15th of January and successfully passed the test. I’ve got many questions where I needed to review and made many decisions for the best possible answer. In the end it worked out and I passed the test. I was really happy I accomplished this one.
Power Automate is really cool to improve productivity and perform action to help me on my workflows. E.g. getting push messages during the evenings or weekends from VIP or important event based alerts
Power BI chart I made with additional functionality to drill-down into the numbers
