What is WordPress?
Networknet.nl is powered by WordPress
Networknet.nl site is runned by WordPress and for me the best available blogging platform. I am using WordPress for many years now. WordPress is a Open Source project where hundreds of people all over the world are working on. WordPress opened my eyes for Open Source and since than I am implementing and working with other projects. WordPress is completely built on web standards and requires PHP and mysql. If you want start using WordPress than there are two options:
- Register a blog at WordPress.com and in seconds you are ready to go. The service is free but less flexiable.
- Download and install WordPress on a hosting provider server with Linux platform and support for PHP and mysql database. In 30 minutes you should be able to go and start blogging yourself 😉
Writing, managing and maintaining your WordPress blog is easy as browsing a website and with it's Admin pages you can do everything with your popular browser. Firefox and Google Chrome are doing much better than Internet Explorer. For a while I used Windows Live Writer but I see many advantages without it.
Example of Writing a page:
